It's time to fall in love again

Fall in love this Valentine’s Day….with your home!  Get excited walking in the door again. Be giddy when you open your closet. Twirl with joy eyeing your pantry.

How do you fall in love again? Getting your home organized is like seeing it through fresh eyes and remembering why you fell in love in the first place!

Treat your home and yourself to some organizing love this Valentine’s Day.

Show your closet some love

  • Switch your clothes hangers to a consistent style and eliminate that visual clutter instantly. Click here to see My Favorite Hangers.

  • Sort all of your clothes into categories (long sleeve tops, short sleeve shirts, pants, skirts, etc) saves you valuable seconds and frustration in the morning getting dressed and out the door.

  • Pair up all of your shoes and line them up on the floor or on their racks. Adding a shoe rack is a great way to take advantage of vertical space and keep your shoes in their right place.

  • Eliminate anything that looks overly worn or that doesn’t fit.

  • Free up space so you and your clothes can breathe!

Show your kitchen some love

  • Toss or donate any unnecessary duplicate utensils and kitchen tools from your drawers and canisters.

  • Use drawer dividers and containers to group like items together so they aren’t scrambled together in the drawer.

  • Line drawers and cabinets to protect your glassware, plates, bakeware, and serving pieces. This extends the life of your drawers and cabinets, too.

  • File-fold your kitchen towels so you have a visual treat when you open that drawer.

Show your pantry some love

  • Toss any expired food from the pantry

  • Decant packaged snacks into attractive baskets. These are some of my favorites for pantries and they come in several sizes.

  • Put cereals and crackers in clear containers so there’s no question how much is left in the box!

  • Use a lazy susan to keep nut butters and spreads close together. Get another one for your oils and vinegars.

  • Labeling shelves, bins, and baskets means there no confusion as to what goes where.

Having a system for where everything goes in your home and making it attractive is all about reducing stress in your home. Once you have a system in place, it is much easier to maintain and reset.

Eliminating what’s extraneous so everything that remains is easy to find just makes your life easier.  You, too, can fall in love with home by curating and creating some organized spaces. Let me know if you need help!

organized kitchen drawer with dividers

Love these drawer dividers in the kitchen. No metal to rust later on!

Baskets hide a myriad of ugly packaging! Click here for more info. Also labeling baskets means everyone knows what goes in there!

clear lazy susan organize oils and vinegars and rectangular lidded container to organize baking supplies

Nothing better than a lazy susan to group like items together in a pantry, especially if it’s round! And you know I love decanting baking supplies into clear containers especially if they stack together.
