Organizing the Cabinet Under Your Bathroom Sink
Clutter creeps up anywhere and will take over if you’re not careful. Under the bathroom sink is no exception. And just like other areas of your home, your under sink cabinets can become a dumping ground for all kinds of clutter to deal with later: hair products, cleaning products, medication, extra body lotion, towels, etc.
Here’s how you can organize the cabinet under your sink and take back your morning time!
You don’t want to waste that valuable space keeping stuff you don’t need.
Eliminate any excess. Combine bottle contents where you can to consolidate space.
Because you store a variety of products under the sink, you want to categorize and contain what is there so it is easy to find and even easier to put away.
Some of the categories you might have under a bathroom sink will vary greatly depending on where the bathroom is and who uses it.
hair products
hair tools
bathroom cleaning products
feminine products
toilet paper
extra body lotion/ soap/ shampoo
travel bags
cotton balls/ swabs/ pads
wash cloths & towels
3. While it isn’t necessary to have a separate container for each category, you should group like items together. They may be similar functionally like cleaning products or by design like sprays or by where you use it, like an evening beauty routine. That is why every organizing system is unique.
4. Prioritize your space. What you use regularly should be the most easily accessible and what you use infrequently should be less accessible.
Also you want to think about the vertical space under your sink and use it to your advantage. I insert drawers wherever and whenever I can to utilize this frequently forgotten space.
Here are some of the containers I use frequently under bathroom sinks for storing and organizing.
These baskets are perfect containing AND concealing under sink clutter in open shelve. Labelling what goes where means there’s less for you to remember. Plus it’s great if you have helpers who may not know where everything goes.
These white baskets come in a variety of sizes, some of them even stack together nicely. They are highly versatile and I like the bright, white color. #labeleverything
While this photo is technically not under a sink, these clear bins are excellent and what I have under my sink at home plus a basket. I love the sizes and that you can stack them on top of one another.
If your cabinets are large enough, I love to put drawers in cabinets so that nothing gets lost in the back and it’s easier to access.
While every under sink situation is different, the same organizing principles apply:
Eliminate what you don’t need
Store it close to where you use it
Contain so you identify location & quantity
Label so you don’t have to remember
Take a little time to put things back as you use them
